"Virtual" Condom Launch to Mark National Condom Week and Valentine's Day

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 12 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Don't be caught online and without protection this Valentine's day! In celebration of National Condom Week, Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is launching a "You're Protected" gift application on Facebook to help remind everyone -- and their friends -- that condoms are the best protection against sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and unplanned pregnancy. "You're Protected" allows users to virtually send Planned Parenthood's Proper Attire(R) condoms in a variety of colors and sizes.

"Valentine's Day is a great time of year to love carefully in any environment and raise awareness of condom use," said Sue Dunlap, Vice President of External Affairs at Planned Parenthood Los Angeles." Our e-condom gifts are a fun and interactive way for those online to send the message: 'No glove? No love!'"

Once a user sends one virtual Proper Attire(R) condom to a friend, they "unlock" new colors and varieties of condoms. The more friends you protect, the more condoms you can send!

Planned Parenthood Los Angeles' Facebook application allows you to send virtual condom gifts in four glamorous styles -- Basic (regular); Color (colored); Dots (studded); and XL (extra large). The real Proper Attire(R) condoms are a safe yet fun way to protect yourself and your partner in the real world and do it with style! This Valentine's Day, insist on a dress code: condoms required for entry(TM).

Condoms used consistently and correctly provide the best protection against sexually transmitted infections for sexually active women and men. They also protect against unintended pregnancy. Research shows
