Physicians Wellness Network and Home Access Health to Provide Medically Compliant Diabetes Testing Sold Directly to Consumers
Date:3/5/2008

JACKSON HOLE, Wyo., March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Physicians Wellness Network (PWN), the leader in providing medical compliance for consumer-selected lab testing, today announced that it has joined with Home Access Health to make it even easier for widespread, consumer-selected diabetes screening in a medically responsible and regulatory compliant manner.

Physicians Wellness Network now provides clinical oversight from a physician for finger-stick blood tests that screen for diabetes (glucose and Hemoglobin A1c) that consumers order from Home Access Health.

"Now, consumers who order diabetes lab tests from Home Access Health can be assured that a physician will review their lab test result and contact them in the event that further medical action is needed or advised," said Brent Blue, MD, president of PWN. "Together, Physicians Wellness Network and Home Access Health have opened the door to compliant, widespread diabetes screening in a way that's cost effective, responsible and allows consumers to better manage their healthcare needs."

Consumer-Selected Diabetes Testing: How it Works

A consumer orders either a glucose or Hemoglobin A1c test from Home Access Health, follows the instructions and mails the sample for testing. The sample is processed in a lab and the results are shared with both the consumer and a physician-member of PWN in the consumer's own state.

Test results are reviewed by one of the 250 credentialed PWN physicians, and the appropriate medical response taken by the physician in the event of an abnormal result.
