Also in October the final 2009 Avon Walks for Breast Cancer take place in New York, NY (October 10th - 11th) and Charlotte, NC (October 24th - 25th). The Avon Walk series, which launched nationwide in 2003, offers participants a choice of walking a marathon (26.2 miles) or a marathon and a half (39.3 miles) over a weekend, and all walkers raise an impressive minimum of $1,800. Funds raised are donated to over 200 local, regional and national breast cancer organizations. Avon walks have engaged over 119,000 participants and millions of donors since 2003, and have raised more than $315 million. During these challenging economic times, these donations have never been more critical to ensuring access to quality care and research progress.

Wrapping up the month is the Foundation's annual Awards Gala in New York on October 27th to honor the women, men, and countless organizations working to improve the lives of women globally through fighting to end breast cancer and domestic violence. Andrea Jung, CEO & Chairman of Avon Products, Inc. will host the Gala with Reese Witherspoon, and help call attention to the incredible work of the Foundation and the organizations it funds.

"Thanks to the commitment of our Avon associates, Sales Representatives, customers and supporters worldwide, by the end of this year, Avon and the Avon Foundation for Women will have raised over $725 million worldwide for programs that improve women's lives, with the vast majority of these funds raised for our Breast Cancer Crusade," said Andrea Jung. "We are truly honored to play an important role in the breast cancer cause, and we look forward to the day when, working together, we can eliminate breast cancer from the face of this earth."

The Avon Foundation for Women, a 501(c)(3) public charity, was founded in 1955 to improve the lives of women and their families, and today bri
