Philanthropist Mark Jenney Donates to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

Ohio-based philanthropist and entrepreneur Mark Jenney makes donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Akron, OH (PRWEB) April 19, 2010 -- Mark Jenney, an Ohio-area philanthropist and entrepreneur, made a donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation last week.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s mission is to ensure that research is done to help prevent and control the disease, and to help improve the quality of life for those afflicted with the disease.

“One of my employees actually suggested that I contribute to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation,” said Jenney. “I looked into it and was shocked at how many people are affected by the disease. Contributing to this Foundation is my small way of helping out.”

Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited, chronic disease that causes the body to produce unusually thick and sticky mucus, which clogs the lungs, obstructs the pancreas, and stops the body’s natural enzymes from helping to break down and absorb food.

Fifty years ago, people with cystic fibrosis rarely lived long enough to attend elementary school. Thanks to advances in medicine and research, those afflicted with the disease can now expect to live into their 30s and 40s.

The Foundation funds and accredits more than 115 cystic fibrosis care centers, 95 adult care programs, and 50 affiliate programs. To date, the Foundation has 80 chapters and branch offices across the nation.
