Midwest Business Group on Health and Pharmacy Outcomes Specialists collaborate to produce second annual conference

CHICAGO, Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The Midwest Business Group on Health (MBGH) and Pharmacy Outcomes Specialists (POS) announced the dates for the second annual Pharmacy Benefits Academy (PBA) to be held at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare in Chicago, August 4-5, 2009. A collaboration between MBGH and POS, the Academy is part of MBGH's Learning Network educational curriculum. The program provides human resources and managed care professionals, union trustees and other interested stakeholders, with the information and tools needed to better manage pharmacy costs and related benefits, and improve the health outcomes of their covered populations using these benefits.

"In these times of economic uncertainty, benefit managers, union trustees and managed care executives are looking for ways to get more value from their limited resources, and the fastest growing area of expenses for many is pharmacy benefits," said Cheryl Larson, vice president, MBGH. "This year's conference will have in-depth breakout sessions for both intermediate and advanced levels, providing successful employer and managed care case studies, along with the information, strategies and tools needed to manage this complex benefit."

Susan Hayes, principal with POS noted "Because of our success in 2008, we have decided to collaborate again in 2009 with MBGH. While we bring over 28 years of expertise in pharmacy benefit management to the table, MBGH provides the comprehensive understanding of health benefits management as a whole, as well as a national reputation for objective, purchaser-focused educational and research programs."

PBA Advisory Council

To identify leading edge topics and speakers, a new PBA Advisory Council is being formed. Topics will range in diversity from basic, key concepts such as
