PharmMD's Brad Tice Named APhA Fellow
Date:3/17/2008

APhA Fellow Award was established in 1987 to honor members who have demonstrated progressive, exemplary service and achievements in their professional area through service to APhA academies and other national, state, and local professional organizations. Recipients must have at least 10 years professional pharmacy experience.

Dr. Tice is among only 17 individuals to receive the APhA Fellow Award this year, which is given to a maximum of 20 individuals each year. As a member of the APhA Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management, Dr. Tice has held numerous leadership positions including member-at-large of the executive committee and chair of the clinical/pharmacotherapeutic section. He sat on the advisory board of the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association for several years and also served as speaker of the house, vice-speaker and member of the board of trustees of the Iowa Pharmacists Association. He has also been actively involved in the Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA) and currently serves as the co-chair of its Quality Metrics Workgroup.

"Medication error, overuse and abuse are pressing issues in today's healthcare environment, and, if applied properly, the principles of MTM can go a long way to preventing these negative events," said Dr. Tice. "It is exciting to operate on the cutting edge of such an important healthcare trend."

Dr. Tice began his pharmacy career focusing on the delivery of patient care services for Osco Drug, first as a pharmacist in Kansas City, Kan., and later as a pharmacy manager for Osco Drug in Davenport, Iowa. He later became an assistant and associate professor at the Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and Director of the Osco Drug/Drake University Community Care Laboratory. Dr. Tice earned his bachelor's of science and doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Kansas.

Dr. Tice was awarded the Iowa Pharmacy Association Young Pharmacist of the Year in 2001 and the 2005 Alfred
