NASHVILLE, Tenn., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Medication therapy management (MTM) provider PharmMD recently added three accomplished professionals to its advisory board.
New members of the PharmMD advisory board include Martin Makary, M.D.; Michael Burcham; and Kevin Hutchinson. The three join an elite group of advisors that has helped PharmMD launch and hone its MTM services, which work to guard against medication error, misuse, overuse and abuse. MTM is proven to reduce the cost of providing drug benefits and improve the health of individual patients by taking measures to ensure they receive the most appropriate medications.
Martin Makary, M.D., is an active surgeon at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and professor for the university's Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Makary currently serves in leadership roles for the United Nations World Health Organization (WHO), American College of Surgeons and International Union of Risk Management.
Michael Burcham most recently served as president of ParadigmHealth, a
specialty care and disease management provider that integrates care and
disease management services for health plan and employer clients. Prior to
joining ParadigmHealth, Burcham founded and served as president of
Theraphysics, a specialty rehabilitation firm. He began his career in
healthcare with National HealthCorp and Hospital Corporation of America.
Burcham is currently professor for the practice of management at the Owen
Graduate School of Management at
Kevin Hutchinson is president and CEO of Prematics, developer of the
nation's first fully managed electronic medication prescribing solution. Prior
to joining Prematics, Hutchinson was the founding president and CEO of
SureScripts, where he led the effort to finance, build and deploy the Pharmacy
Health Information Exchange, a national network for electronic prescribing and
