PharmMD Becomes an ASCP MTM Provider Partner
Date:11/16/2007

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) announces that PharmMD Solutions has become one of ASCP's Medication Therapy Management (MTM) Provider Partners. The announcement was made this week at Senior Care Pharmacy '07 - ASCP's 38th Annual Meeting and Exhibition taking place in Philadelphia.

The need for skilled clinicians to deliver MTM services has increased dramatically since the coverage of MTM services under Medicare Part D, especially for patients residing outside of nursing facilities. Our MTM Provider Partners, recognizing the excellence of ASCP members, turned to the Society to help them enlist consultant and senior care pharmacists to deliver MTM services to their contracted enrollees.

Consultant and senior care pharmacists are clinicians specially trained in geriatric pharmacotherapy who review patients' medication regimens to ensure they are receiving the most appropriate, safe, and most effective medications, and that they are used appropriately. Further, consultant and senior care pharmacists identify individuals at high risk for medication-related problems, and identify and resolve health problems that are not otherwise recognized as medication-related.

"This new partnership will expand the reach of ASCP member consultant and senior care pharmacists into community-based settings, bringing much needed clinical expertise to medically complex patients wherever they reside," said ASCP Executive Director & CEO John Feather.

PharmMD Solutions specializes in delivering MTM services to patients covered under groups such as employer sponsored health benefits, government entities, health plans, union funds, pharmacy benefits managers, disease management firms, case management companies, and managed care organizations.

"In line with our mission of making health care personal, we are passionate about positively impacting individual lives through improved medication use," said B
