Scholars are supposed to send their entries to the team at PhD Box by the end of the current semester. The procedure for entering the contest is simple. Interested candidates just have to send an email at info(at)phdbox(dot)edu.in with details like their name, age, qualification and college name. They will be registered as participants and will receive an acknowledgement, along with the rules for the contest. Once confirmed, participants can start their research for the most interesting topic in their field of study. Every participant will be allowed to send in up to five entries for research topics. The subjects for which this competition is open include Law, Literature, Social science, Medical and nursing, Finance and banking, Environment, Political science and Education.

Announcing the contest, Mr. Puneet Chadha, director said that the competition will promote original thinking and in depth research by the contestants. The criteria for selection of the topics include the issues addressed, language and style, precision and presentation and relevance to current problems in the field. The mentors will also judge whether the topic offers a wide scope for research. Top ten participants will be chosen from amongst the entries received, and they will be awarded scholarships. The winners will also be enrolled for a free session in research methods and data analysis with expert guides.
