Performance Rehabilitation and Integrated Medicine in Watchung, NJ Introduces Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy for Treatment of Chronic Pain

According to recent studies, 50 percent of Americans deal with chronic pain of some sort, defined as pain that extends beyond normal healing time. The P.R.P process involves extracting a portion of the patient’s blood and using a centrifuge to separate a concentrated mix of plasma cells from the other elements of the blood. The concentrated plasma is then injected into the area that is causing the pain, which speeds the healing of the surrounding tendons, joints, and muscles. The entire process takes approximately 1-2 hours and is performed safely at the Performance Rehab medical office. Patients are able to receive up to three injections within a six-month time frame, but many patients experience dramatic results after just one or two treatments. Six to eight weeks of post procedure rehab is also necessary to experience the full benefit and restore full function.
