Company Restructures to Manage Growth
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Blue Shield of California has restructured its senior leadership as part of an effort to manage the company's rapid growth and pursue new strategic initiatives. Acknowledging the contributions of executives who have helped to spearhead the company's success, Blue Shield chairman and CEO Bruce Bodaken today announced the following organizational changes:

An 11-year Blue Shield veteran, Markovich brings extensive P&L experience coupled with multi-faceted product marketing expertise to his new role. As leader of LGBU, he grew membership by recruiting new sales leadership and developing a large group product that added more than 150,000 members in two years. In his earlier role as head of the CalPERS Business Unit, Markovich oversaw consolidation of the CalPERS HMO business, growing Blue Shield's membership by 350,000 and revenues to $1.3 billion.
