Date:11/3/2014

Watertown, MA (PRWEB) November 03, 2014

ChopChopKids, publisher of the award-winning ChopChop: The Fun Cooking Magazine for Kids has named Patti McKenna as Executive Director, effective immediately. Ms. McKenna will be responsible for leading ChopChop’s fundraising and operations, working closely with ChopChop’s founder and president, Sally Sampson.

Ms. McKenna has been fundraising for the past 20 years of her career in many areas including health organizations, hospitals and museums. Most recently, she was the Senior Vice President at the American Heart Association (AHA).

"I'm thrilled to be a part of an organization whose mission is to teach children how to cook," Ms. McKenna said. "As we continue to address the childhood obesity epidemic, I look forward to building and expanding partnerships that deepen our impact in helping families make healthy choices."

Ms. McKenna also worked with the Government Relations staff to help promote policy at the State and local level. She and the board were very active in legislation for the School Nutrition Act as well as legislation requiring all coaches to be trained in CPR.

“Patti joins our organization at a critical time," said Sally Sampson. "ChopChop's vision is to reach every school-aged child with our message of healthy eating and cooking. Patti's expertise and experience will be an incredible asset to our efforts."

Ms. McKenna has an MBA from the University of Missouri, Kansas City and a BS degree from Northeastern Illinois University. She and her husband, Larry McKenna moved to the Boston area in 2007 from Kansas City after their two daughters went to college. In her free time, she loves to garden, cook and bake.
