Patient Advocate Foundation Welcomes Leading Health Care Experts to Executive Board of Directors

e, RN, MN, FAAN most recently served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Oncology Nursing Society of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Moore, a nurse for more than 50 years, is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. She has received a variety of honors and awards throughout her prestigious career including the Oncology Nursing Society Lifetime Achievement Award. Moore, a respected leader in the oncology nursing community, has shared her expertise with groups worldwide and been published in more than a dozen medical journals and publications including the New England Journal of Medicine and Oncology News International.

Alan Balch, PhD is the Vice President of the Preventative Health Partnership, a joint effort by the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association, created to promote healthy lifestyles by increasing public awareness of disease prevention and early detection. Dr. Balch's past experience as the Executive Director of the Friends of Cancer Research and his work with the medical and academic communities to overcome barriers to cancer research will be a strong asset to PAF programs and relationships. He also has an extensive background in economic and environmental policy.

Venus Gines, a breast cancer survivor of more than 15 years, is the founder of Dia de Le Mujar Latina, Inc., an organization dedicated to educating the Latino community about healthy living and disease prevention. Since Gines organized the first Latino family healthy fiesta, a collaboration of Latino organizations, private and non-profit health care groups, community leaders, community health departments and volunteers, more than 27,000 Latinos have participated. She has been nationally recognized as a leader in the Latin American community through her service on the President's Cancer Panel and the Susan G. Komen National Hispanic/Latina Advisory Council.
