Patient Advocate Foundation Welcomes Leading Health Care Experts to Executive Board of Directors
Date:9/27/2007

NEWPORT NEWS, Va., Sept. 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Patient Advocate Foundation (PAF) -- a national non-profit organization that provides patient services to tens of thousands of patients every year who are unable to obtain access to care because of financial or insurance denials --announced this month the addition of four new Executive Board members including health care policy leaders and medical professionals --- Roy Ramthun; Pearl Moore, RN; Alan Balch, PhD; and Venus Gines. All newly appointed members come to the board with a wealth of experience in the health care field where they have worked to understand the current policy landscape and the difficulties patients face in accessing care.

"We are honored to welcome these distinguished and respected professionals to our Executive Board of Directors," said Nancy Davenport-Ennis, President and CEO of PAF. "PAF received more than 6.2 million requests for information or services last year alone resulting in almost 40,000 cases that required our professional team of case managers to negotiate their case resolution. Our organization's leadership is dedicated to finding the most effective means to provide health care access assistance to all patients who seek our help. I am proud of our unique ability to gather together a group of leading experts to best represent the people we serve--and the health care spectrum as whole."

Ray Ramthun joins the PAF Executive Board of Directors from HSA Consulting Services, LLC, a practice specializing in consumer driven health care issues. Ramthun, a nationally recognized expert in the area of Health Saving Accounts, most recently served in the current Administration as a senior health policy advisor to President George W. Bush and led the implementation of Health Savings Accounts for the U.S. Department of Treasury in 2003. Ramthun brings to PAF more than 20 years of health care policy, government relations, and private sector experience.
