Date:6/10/2009

Dr. Lyon has assisted hundreds of patients in the Lexington, Columbia and Midlands area of South Carolina to reach their weight loss goals through her physician-supervised program. Now, Dr. Lyon has added board-certification in bariatric medicine to her list of impressive medical credentials.

Columbia, SC (PRWEB) June 10, 2009 -- Columbia Physician, Pamela Lyon, M.D. has received her board certification in bariatric weight loss medicine from the American Board Of Bariatric Medicine.

Dr. Lyon becomes the only Columbia-area physician with this specialized training and joins roughly five other South Carolina doctors who have attained this high-level of medical certification for weight control.

An emergency room physician for much of her career, Dr. Lyon has devoted the past four years to helping Columbia-area residents learn the benefits of weight loss and achieve their weight loss goals. Now, with this additional training and board certification, Dr. Lyon offers the highest standard of care for weight loss patients.

"When I attended medical school, nutrition and weight management were not a significant part of our curriculum," says Dr. Lyon. "With this additional training, and the resources of the American Board of Bariatric Medicine, I am able to offer my patients diagnosis, treatment and weight loss plans based on the latest medical advances in the field of bariatric medicine."

Board certified bariatric medicine physicians specialize in developing customized weight loss plans for patients, many of whom have had no luck with other diet strategies.

Board certified bariatric physicians also have the highest-level of knowledge on how the body can be treated to enhance its own weight loss abilities.

A year ago, Dr. Lyon opened her own Columbia private practice, Waistlines, specializing in weight loss and has already helped hundreds
