PR Professionals Making Good Use of Social Media With Help From Twitter Webinars Run by BurrellesLuce

Livingstone, NJ (PRWEB) August 26, 2009 -- As social media assumes an ever-larger role in public relations practice, many PR professionals are turning to BurrellesLuce for valuable advice on making optimal use of Twitter and other powerful communications tools.

The latest example of the active assistance BurrellesLuce provides to PR practitioners, who want to sharpen their social-media skills, is the webinar "Twitter 201: Adding Twitter to Your Strategic PR Toolbox". (Watch a replay of the Twitter 201 webinar here.)

The event was an eagerly awaited follow-up to "Twitter 101: Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Twitter, but Were Afraid to Ask", which had been attended by thousands of PR and marketing professionals back in May 2009. (View the Twitter 101 replay here.)

"A recent BurrellesLuce survey revealed that almost half of our clients have a Twitter account. Many struggle, though, to reap tangible benefits from their Twitter activity, which is why we have developed our series of Twitter webinars," said Steve Shannon, BurrellesLuce's executive vice president.

Appropriately, Twitter 201 was led by two prolific BurrellesLuce Twitter users: Johna Burke, vice president, who moderated the session and served as a panelist, and panelist Debbie Friez, the company's vice president-major accounts.

They focused on areas of major interest to PR professionals, including the following:

  • Using a personal brand versus an organization brand
  • Twitter's place in a strategic communications plan
  • Where to tweet
  • Tweeting etiquette
  • Acquainting the CEO with the merits of Twitter
  • Applying Twitter to public relations
  • Measuring micro-blogging effectiveness

The webinar also tied Twitter in to the broader social media picture by citing four tips of online success (being unique, being authentic, being a student, and being a teacher) and six traits of thought leadership (being knowledgeable, aware, interesting, innovative, engaged, and accessible).

There has been considerable positive talk on Twitter regarding Twitter 201, and Burke and Friez are answering Twitter questions on BurrellesLuce's Fresh Ideas blog at #prwebinar.
