PLUS Diagnostics Announces Senior Executive Ap...( LAKEWOOD N.J. Aug. ...),Health

LAKEWOOD, N.J., Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- PLUS Diagnostics, a leading anatomic pathology company, announced today that it has expanded its executive team with the addition of two laboratory industry veterans. The company has appointed Mohammad Kamal, M.D. to chief medical officer and Mark Machulcz to executive vice president of operations.

Dr. Kamal and Mr. Machulcz bring more than 30 years of combined anatomic pathology experience to PLUS Diagnostics. Dr. Kamal is an assistant clinical professor of pathology at UCLA. He was also the first medical director for the Los Angeles laboratory of Dianon Systems, a LabCorp company. Mr. Machulcz previously directed pan-India operations for a unit of Quest Diagnostics Incorporated. Prior to that position, he was a director of clinical and anatomic pathology operations for a unit of Quest.

The senior appointments are part of PLUS Diagnostics' strategy to become the leading national anatomic pathology laboratory. By the end of 2009, the company will have opened two new laboratories, increased its medical and support team from 120 to more than 225 people, and expanded into the hematology and oncology specialties. PLUS Diagnostics has grown its base of customers to achieve record sales, earnings and year-over-year revenue growth since partnering with Water Street Healthcare Partners, a leading private equity firm focused exclusively on health care.
