PA Department of Health Halts Admissions at Commonwealth Medical Center in Beaver County
Date:11/26/2008

HARRISBURG, Pa., Nov. 26 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Department of Health today ordered a ban on all new inpatient, outpatient, emergency and non-emergency admissions to Commonwealth Medical Center, 2500 Hospital Drive, Aliquippa, until further notice.

The department said the action is necessary to ensure the medical center's management addresses non-compliance with licensing standards which pose a significant threat to the health and safety of patients and those who might go to the center seeking care.

Currently there are four patients at the hospital. Those patients will be allowed to remain at the discretion of their physician.

While this order is in effect, residents needing emergency or hospital care should go to one of these nearby hospitals:

    720 Blackburn Road
    Sewickley
    (412) 749-7000

    Heritage Valley - Beaver
