Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies: Name Update Emphasizes Practice's Spine Care

FORT COLLINS, Colo., Dec. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- The Orthopaedic Center of the Rockies (Fort Collins and Loveland, CO) has updated its name to Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies. The name change highlights the 40-year-old medical practice's services for patients with disorders or injuries to their back or neck.

"Including spine in our name communicates more completely the range of services that we offer to the community and patients," said Dr. Michael Houghton, president of the board of directors of the Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies (OCR).

"We have offered a comprehensive range of services and surgeries for many years for people who have spine problems or pain," said Dr. Robert Benz, a spine surgeon with the group.

"We see this as an opportunity to emphasize the complete program we have established for taking care of people with neck and back problems," said Dr. William Biggs, who is also a spine surgeon with the practice.

OCR offers the latest minimally invasive surgeries, as well as an array of non-surgical options to care for people who have back/neck problems, including neck and low-back disc herniations (bulging disc), stenosis (narrowing), scoliosis (spine curvature), along with many other spinal problems.

Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies is the practice's third name since its founding in 1969. At that time it was called Fort Collins Orthopaedic Associates. In 1990, the group's physicians adopted the name Orthopaedic Center of the Rockies, or OCR.

The practice's new name applies to the Orthopaedic & Spine Center's offices in Fort Collins, CO, and Loveland, CO.

OCR recently (Dec. 7, 2009) moved its office in Loveland to a new facility at 3470 East 15th Street, which is on U.S. 34 across from Mountain View High School. The Loveland office's patient services include clinic physician appointments, therapy (PT and OT), and X-rays.

OCR's Fort Collins facility offers those same services, plus a surgery center, overnight stay recovery center, warm water therapy pools, and an MRI scanner.

The practice has 23 physicians, comprising 18 orthopaedic surgeons, one podiatrist, and four primary care sports medicine doctors.
