Canton High School Senior Is First Recipient
CANTON, Mass., June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Organogenesis, Inc., a leading regenerative medicine company, has established an annual scholarship program with Canton High School to honor a graduating senior pursuing a career in life sciences research or biomedical engineering. The 2009 recipient is Justin Gaines, who will be attending

The Organogenesis Scholarship of $2,500.00 is awarded on the basis of academic achievement and content of an essay, "How do you see yourself contributing to the future of the Life Sciences?" Justin's essay detailed his career goal in "the diagnostic imaging and diagnosis of diseases, along with appropriate courses of treatment."
Justin is graduating in the top 15 percent of his class, with a GPA above 3.5. As an extern at Organogenesis under the auspices of Dr. Dolores Baksh, Associate Director of Applied Research, Justin was involved in the evaluation of the potency of cells used in regenerative medicine therapies; assisted in the design and execution of experiments aimed at improving therapies for wound healing; and gained exposure to the cultivation of a number of different cell types.
