Organix-South Adopts Neem Through the American Botanical Council's Adopt-an-Herb Program
Date:9/8/2009

AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 8 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Organix-South, a manufacturer of certified-organic Ayurvedic herbal products, has officially joined the American Botanical Council's (ABC) Adopt-an-Herb program by adopting the versatile herb neem. For the next three years, Organix-South will provide ABC with financial support to ensure that summaries of the latest published scientific and clinical research on neem (Azadirachta indica) are made available within ABC's HerbMedPro database, one of the most robust and powerful herbal databases and research tools on the Internet.

"ABC is deeply grateful to Organix-South for supporting our nonprofit educational mission and thus helping ensure that information on neem in the HerbMedPro database remains current," said Mark Blumenthal, ABC's founder and executive director. "The information within ABC's Web site, www.herbalgram.org, and specifically in the HerbMedPro database, serves as a reliable resource on herbs and other beneficial botanicals for consumers, scientists, and others."

By adopting neem, Organix-South is supporting ABC's ongoing efforts to collect and disseminate reliable, traditional, and science-based information on herbs, medicinal plants, and other plant-based ingredients. The Adopt-an-Herb program encourages companies and individuals to "adopt" one or more specific herbs for inclusion in the HerbMedPro database. Each adopted herb will be researched monthly for newly published articles and studies, and the herb's record in HerbMedPro will be updated as needed. The result is that consumers, researchers, health practitioners, educators, media, government agencies, members of industry, and others can use HerbMedPro
