Oregon Health Care Association Honors Long-Time Avamere Volunteer with Recognition Award
Date:9/19/2013

Portland, Oregon (PRWEB) September 19, 2013

This is a story about what it means to give back in the most selfless way possible. Evelyn Rogers, 87-years-young, has volunteered with Avamere at Sherwood for over 10 years, and recently received the "Volunteer of the Year" award from OHCA.

"Evelyn always contributes to the positive well-being of the residents and the morale around our campus. She brings a special kind of vibrancy and excitement that the residents and staff absolutely cherish," says Watts.

Evelyn has visited the Senior Assisted Living community every day for more than a decade, which is one of the many reasons she deserves this recognition. "Evelyn does everything! She comes in around 11 AM to help with activities and stays until well after her expected shift is over," says Sabrina Thompson, Activities Director. "She’ll go grocery shopping, host activities when I’m not here, and is a constant source of kindness, enjoyment, and warmth for our staff and residents."

"Her integrity and high standard of ethical behavior has really influenced our entire staff and directly impacted the work environment," says Nicolette Merino, Regional Director of Operations for Av
