Operation USA to Respond to Earthquake Devastation in China

Agency is Appealing for Funds to Rebuild Schools and Clinics

LOS ANGELES, May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Operation USA (http://www.opusa.org), a Los Angeles-based international relief agency, today announced that it is responding with aid to the Sichuan Province in central China. The recent 7.9 earthquake has mobilized relief agencies from around the world and Operation USA is one of the first to heed the call.

The Chinese Army is taking the lead in immediate disaster response in the region, however Operation USA and other relief organizations are planning to assist in the reconstruction of schools and clinics as the rescue stage is completed.

The agency issued an appeal for funds from the general public and from corporate and foundation donors. Corporate contributions of essential products in bulk and with at least one year's remaining shelf life are also being sought. Ninety-eight cents of every dollar donated to Operation USA is spent directly on relief programs.
