One Month Later, Haiti Quake Survivors Report Need For Protection From Crime, Rainy Season

  • Fifty-three percent or 77 households surveyed said they have protection or security concerns.
  • Thirty-five households said they were concerned about robbery.
  • Fourteen households said they were afraid of "evil forces."
  • Five households said they feared threat of rape.
  • Six households spoke of general fear.
  • Eleven households said they had no fears or have organized their own security, or are protected by authorized security.
  • To conduct the survey, the agency spoke to 154 households representing 1, 331 people in 17 sites across the capital.
