The best ab exercises are always being discovered in the fitness industry and most of them involve expensive equipment or machines. But according to Mike Whitfield, the creator behind the popular bodyweight program called “Bodyweight Torch”, the best bodyweight ab exercises require no equipment.
“There’s no reason anyone needs to invest hundreds or thousands of dollars in expensive ab workout equipment. The best core exercises can be performed just using bodyweight. The On/Off Plank ab exercise is one of the best ab exercises that anyone can use with their bodyweight workouts because it improves core stability and endurance without boring crunches or sit-ups. The on/off plank bodyweight ab exercise is when the plank is performed for a certain amount of time followed by a brief period of rest. One of the best methods to use this unique ab exercise is to perform a plank for 10 seconds followed by 10 seconds of rest. Anyone can do this up to ten times, but I recommended to my subscribers to start off doing this just four times. It’s a great way to challenge the abs while burning calories and improving core strength. My subscribers really enjoy the video demonstrations of exercises so that’s why I wanted to demonstrate the on/off plank to show anyone that the core can be worked effectively without having to invest in gadgets. To make this great ab exercise harder, a stability ball can be used as well. But even without a stability ball, this bodyweight ab exercise is enough to challenge even a bodyweight workout veteran” said Whitfield.
