Olympic Mental Trainer, Dan Vitchoff of PA Hypnosis Center Helps Both Athletes and Sufferers of PTSD
Date:3/2/2010

Dan Vitchoff, Mental Training and Performance Coach for Gold Medal Olympians and founder of the PA Hypnosis Center in Pittsburgh, creates programs for dealing with post traumatic stress disorder and finds they are surprisingly similar to providing mental coaching for the stress of competing as a professional athlete.

Pittsburgh PA (March 2, 2010) –
The closing ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics will take the athletes and competitors out of the spotlight for a while, but will do little to change the training schedule grind of Olympians and Olympic hopefuls worldwide who have set their sights on the 2012 Olympics in London or the next winter competitions at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi.

For Olympic Mental Trainer, Dan Vitchoff, (founder of the PA Hypnosis Center in Pittsburgh, M.S.Ed, Mental Training and Performance Coach and Certified NLP Trainer) the term, “set their sights” is especially appropriate. Vitchoff works with the highly successful USA Shooting Team including Olympic Gold Medalists, Walton Glenn Eller and Vincent Hancock. Using ‘The 33 Method,’ a mental relaxation and conditioning program Vitchoff developed specifically to serve the needs of professional and amateur athletes, Vitchoff helps competitors increase their ability to concentrate and focus under the extreme pressures of competition.

Although Dan Vitchoff’s clients are global, with a homebase at Pittsburgh’s PA Hypnosis Center, it was inevitable that many professional hockey players (some who are Olympic competitors as well) would also turn to him for mental training. Vitchoff explains, “Athletes prepare their whole lives for a single moment of competition. The stress can be psychologically paralyzing; the mental coaching techniques we offer at the PA Hypnosis Center are a critical difference-maker.”

In working with sports stars and competitors, Dan Vitchoff and his staff have found that many of the techniques they use with athletes under stress have also proven effective in helping sufferers of the types of post traumatic stress disorder or post traumatic stress syndrome seen in soldiers, combat veterans, and victims of crime, natural disaster, or other trauma. Building on his experience with performance athletes under pressure and on the diversity of needs the PA Hypnosis Center sees in its daily clients, Vitchoff began research to develop a program specifically for PTSD sufferers. The result has been a program uniquely targeted for addressing the needs of those who suffer with post traumatic stress syndrome, acute stress disorder and other similar conditions.

At Vitchoff’s Pittsburgh hypnosis center, he and Catherine (Catie) Dolgos, a Certified Consulting Hypnotherapist and Fitness and Nutrition Specialist, have demonstrated success in helping people overcome a range of personal challenges. Through techniques including hypnosis, mental coaching, sports psychology, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), and visualization and imagery, the PA Hypnosis Center helps not only athletes, but anyone who wants to lose weight, stop smoking, reduce anxiety, or address other challenges.

“The PA Hypnosis Center changes lives using our proven mental coaching success strategies that work for Olympic athletes. Stress can materialize many ways, including performance anxiety in sports, overeating, or other behaviors. Our techniques help people stop smoking, lose weight, and dispel fears.
