Oklahoma Drug Card Savings Surpasses $3.8 Million

OKLAHOMA CITY, July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Oklahoma residents have saved over $3.8 million on prescription drugs through Oklahoma Drug Card since the launch of the free statewide prescription assistance program. The program, which offers free prescription drug cards to residents, was launched in January, 2008. There are no restrictions to membership, no income requirements, no age limitations, and there are no applications or waiting periods. Anyone interested in receiving a pre-activated card can visit www.OklahomaDrugCard.com.

"We are thrilled to help save so much money for the residents of Oklahoma. The program has been accepted all across the state and we're expanding our efforts to many other organizations. Our goal is to make sure that every resident has access to the Oklahoma Drug Card," said Program Director, Joe Willard.

Oklahoma Drug Card was launched to help the uninsured and underinsured residents of Oklahoma afford their prescription medications. However, the program can also be used by people who have health insurance coverage with no prescription benefits, which is common in many health savings accounts (HSA) and high deductible health plans. Additionally, people who have prescription coverage can use this program for non-formulary or non-covered drugs. This includes people enrolled in Medicare Part D.

Oklahoma Drug Card is accepted at over 50,000 pharmacies around the country including May's Drug Store, Med-X Drug Store, Drug Warehouse, CVS/pharmacy, Wal-mart, Target, Walgreens, and K-mart. Oklahoma residents can download a free card, search drug pricing, and locate participating pharmacies at www.OklahomaDrugCard.com.
