Okaloosa Island Fire Department Will Use Jellyfish Squish to Treat Jellyfish Stings

SAVANNAH, Ga., June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Captain Kevin Carvalho of the Okaloosa Island Fire Department has treated hundreds of jellyfish stings as Medical Division Officer, but he has never seen a treatment that provided any true relief until he tried Jellyfish Squish.

Jellyfish Squish was released earlier this year and is the only product scientifically proven to immediately and completely eliminate the pain caused by a jellyfish sting. After witnessing the relief provided by Jellyfish Squish firsthand, Capt. Carvalho said he will include Jellyfish Squish in all of the Okaloosa Island Fire Department medical gear bags and recommend that the product be used exclusively to treat jellyfish stings.

"Of the methods I have seen to treat jellyfish stings, Jellyfish Squish is absolutely the most effective by far," Capt. Carvalho said. "Rarely have we seen any results from the treatments we have used in the past, which ranged from meat tenderizer to wet beach sand to the credit card scraping method. None of these methods was ever effective, but when we used Jellyfish Squish we could see immediate relief in our patients from the painful burning and stinging associated with the jellyfish to skin contact. This product has made our job easier."

Jellyfish Squish, which has been endorsed by the American Lifeguard Association and has undergone extensive testing for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, is a topical anesthetic which neutralizes the toxins released by nematocysts left on the skin when a jellyfish tentacle comes into contact with flesh.
