Childhood cancer survivor makes "Yes We Did" poster to help sick kids.

GAINESVILLE, Fla., March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- At the age of two when Phil McCarty was diagnosed with a potentially lethal tumor, the doctors told his parents to "love him as long as you can." McCarty lived, but every year thousands of families aren't as lucky. Researchers believe that stem cells are possibly the key to McCarty's tumor, as well as every type of cancer.

McCarty is now selling a "Yes We Did" Obama poster, composed of the names of everyone who orders it, and donating 25 percent of the proceeds to the Florida-based Make a Child Smile (MACS). The organization is devoted to providing emotional and financial support to families whose children suffer from chronic or life-threatening illnesses.

"I had three surgeries growing up. I just thought it was normal; I was very lucky. It was much harder on my parents than it was on me. I'm worried about how both families and charities are coping during these tough economic times. I've donated to the Make a Child Smile organization for years; I'm happy to share the proceeds with them," McCarty said.

McCarty purchased the domain name "Ivotedforobama.com" in 2004, shortly after learning about Obama.

"I might've been the first person to buy an Obama domain. I knew that one day I'd vote for him. I just didn't think it'd be this soon," McCarty said. "I brainstormed for a while and decided to create something new so that everyone who took part in this event could feel connected."

Make a Child Smile president Alexandra Bakker believes that the posters are an ideal link between her organization, the children it supports, and the new United States president.
