ORTHOWORLD Releases Position Paper on Healthcare Reform
Date:8/5/2009

CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio, Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- ORTHOWORLD released today its statement of position on the proposed healthcare reform measures currently being debated in congress. The statement is decidedly nonpartisan, and simply but powerfully focuses on the value of orthopaedic care to society.

"It is our fervent hope that the debate on healthcare reform can stay focused on the real quantifiable benefits of certain types of treatments," commented John Engelhardt, Chief Executive Officer of ORTHOWORLD. "Orthopaedic treatment is among the most significant achievements of humankind. Its ability to restore life and productivity is well-documented for nearly a generation. We urge lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to embrace these facts in their decisionmaking process."

The statement is deliberately non-copyrighted to allow anyone to disseminate all or parts of it in letters to Congress, colleagues, societies or grass roots movements. It is hoped that other groups and societies will be inspired to offer their own position statements, and add data in support.

"In this statement of position, we have provided the facts and statistics that illustrate the pervasive affect of orthopaedic conditions and treatments on virtually all levels of society, but most emphatically on those of working age," added Shirley Engelhardt, President and Founder of ORTHOWORLD. "The facts show that orthopaedic treatment benefits society so profoundly that ensuring its continued availability is paramount to assuring the health of this and future generations."

The statement is available on the orthopaedic portal, www.orthoworld.com. For more information, contact:
