ORCHID Recovery Center Reveals Lasting Dangers of Teenage Drinking
Date:6/25/2013

ct during this stage of life. According to the article, the reward system of the brain is developing during the earlier years of puberty and it is "in a highly vulnerable state for any kind of reward, and drug rewards in particular. This high vulnerability might also affect reward seeking, or in this particular case, alcohol seeking and drinking behavior later in life."

A representative from ORCHID Recovery Center comments: "This insight into the development of the brain and how alcohol use can impact it at an early age is a great resource for individuals who are trying to understand why some adults are more prone to alcohol abuse than others. Additionally, I believe that this information can help parents to best monitor their children's behavior. Many parents may not believe that kids as young as 12 are engaging in alcohol use, so they may not educate their children regarding this issue until later. By talking about the subject at a younger age, parents can better prepare their kids to make smarter decisions as they go through puberty."

The professionals at ORCHID Recovery Center encourage individuals who are battling with substance abuse, or who have a loved one who is fighting addiction, to contact a treatment center immediately.
