NutriGold Announces its I.C.E. Initiative to Educate Consumers about GMOs in Dietary Supplements
Date:8/31/2014

Orem, UT (PRWEB) August 31, 2014

In the wake of growing consumer concerns over GMOs, a number of states have proposed legislation to require mandatory labeling of GMOs on food and supplement packaging so consumers can make informed purchasing decisions that affect their own health and the health of loved ones. As an industry leader advocating for stringent measures to eliminate GMOs from dietary supplements, NutriGold has announced the launch of its “Information, Communication, Engagement” (I.C.E.) initiative with the objective of advancing the non-GMO message among consumers and empowering them with the resources they need to bring about meaningful change with regard to non-GMO legislation.

Messages about GMOs lack clarity with regard to whether the objection to the use of GMOs in foods and dietary supplements is political, philosophical, or health-based. Because consumers vary considerably in their reasons for supporting or opposing any issue or cause, messages that fail to clearly identify the motivational basis for the argument against GMOs are more likely than not to miss the mark with consumers.

Asked about the initiative, Dr. Priya Khan, NutriGold’s Founder and President, said, “The major goals of the I.C.E campaign are to anticipate, institute, review, and improve on the policies, processes, and actions necessary to minimize, if not completely eliminate, the risk of cross-contamination of GM ingredients along supply chains, to inform and educate consumers about prevalence and incidence of GMOs in the food chain, to actively participate in community and industry-wide efforts to help advance the cause of the non-GMO movement so we can, individually and collectively, stay true to the most fundamental ethical and professional obligation we have to our consumers to “Do No Harm.”
