The Nursing Home Complaint Center is launching a very aggressive national initiative in 2013 that is focused on increasing public awareness of sepsis, or septic shock in our nations nursing homes, and in an attempt to decease the number of needless deaths associated with these infections, that should have been prevented from ever happening. The Nursing Home Complaint Center says, "We believe sepsis, or septic shock are at epidemic levels among our nations nursing home patients, in large part due to the fact the nursing home staff never properly maintain their patients. Sepsis, or septic shock are typically a direct result of a bed sore not being treated. The net result of this lack of treatment, or care is the bed sore evolves into a severe type of infection called sepsis, or septic shock, typically the nursing home has the patient rushed to a local hospital, and frequently it is too late to help, and the nursing home patient dies." The Nursing Home Complaint Center is now urging family members, or loved ones to get what is called a medical power of attorney, for their loved one in a nursing home, with the instruction the family is to be notified immediately if the nursing home patient-loved one has developed a bed sore. The group is also urging family members, or loved ones with a medical power of attorney for a nursing home patient to ask the admitting physician if sepsis, or septic shock is indicated if they get a call from a hospital ER, that the nursing home, or rehab center has just sent the patient to a local hospital because the patient was not responsive. If the admitting physician at the local hospital informs the family that sepsis, or septic shock is indicated the Nursing Home Complaint Center is urging the family to call them immediately at 866-714-6466 for an instant legal response, and investigation. http://NursingHomeComplaintCenter.Com
