Nurses to N.J. Health Commissioner: Save Our Patients
Date:4/23/2009

TRENTON, N.J., April 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Nurses with grave concerns about the care of their patients at Innova Deptford and Innova Hammonton are to address those fears directly to Heather Howard, New Jersey Commissioner of Health and Senior Services, in her office today (Thursday April 23) beginning at about 11:30 a.m.

Some 80 Registered and Practical nurses, members of District 1199C of the National Union of Hospital and Health Care Employees, have been without a contract for a year now and on strike for the last three months, since January 23.

A busload of those striking nurses and their supporters are set to travel to Trenton this morning to address the need for competent, compassionate care for Innova patients.

Union nurses are anxious to return to work and end Innova's practice of putting cost-cutting measures ahead of responsibility for quality patient care.
