LifeSecure Insurance Company Leading Charge in Long-Term Care Awareness

BRIGHTON, Mich., Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- LifeSecure Insurance Company, which provides long-term care solutions that help families live well and worry less, says more needs to be done to raise awareness of long-term care issues in Michigan. Under a proclamation from Gov. Jennifer Granholm secured by LifeSecure, November 2008 has been declared Long-Term Care Awareness Month in Michigan.

"In today's challenging economy, with the demand and costs associated with long-term care continuing to increase, we encourage individuals and their caregivers to learn more about the options available and how to affordably and confidently plan for the future," said Lisa Wendt, president and CEO, LifeSecure.

Studies show that a 65-year-old today has a 70 percent chance of needing long-term care at some point in his or her lifetime. If that care includes a nursing home, the current average annual stay is estimated at $75,000.

"Many Michigan residents assume that government programs like Medicare and Medicaid will completely cover the cost of all long-term care needs," continued Wendt. "That can be a very costly assumption. At LifeSecure, we are hopeful that this month will serve as a catalyst for individuals to start separating facts from the myths, and seek the solutions most appropriate for them and their loved ones."
