November: National Epilepsy Awareness Month Actress Hunter Tylo Turns Tragic Loss Into Hope

One year since Mickey's accidental death (October 18th) Hunter has been changing the face of Epilepsy. She joins American Epilepsy Outreach Foundation as National Spokesperson.

CHICAGO, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- November is National Epilepsy Awareness Month. The American Epilepsy Outreach Foundation (AEOF) joins with Hunter Tylo of CBS's The Bold and The Beautiful in a nationwide campaign to raise awareness of Epilepsy and educate the public on first-aid tips for someone experiencing a seizure.

"Since Mickey's death, I joined with American Epilepsy Outreach Foundation to raise public awareness about Epilepsy. Together we created PSAs which bring Epilepsy to millions of viewers. This information can save a life. Everyone needs to learn the facts about Epilepsy," said Tylo. "Epilepsy can be very serious. It is my goal to work with the American Epilepsy Outreach Foundation to support those who suffer and to educate so others do not experience the great loss I have."

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Epilepsy affects an estimated 2.7 million people in the U.S. and 50 million worldwide. Each year, about 200,000 new cases are diagnosed in the U.S. More than one-third suffering continue to have seizures, despite treatment. There is no cure for Epilepsy and each year nearly 42,000 deaths occur due to seizure-related accidents.

AEOF offers first-aid information for seizures, support programs, links to related resources, and medical news.

AEOF was founded by Erin and Patrick Leyden and Patrick's sister, Anne Marie Clancy, all of Chicago after the Leyden's son, Emmett, was diagnosed with Epilepsy. Emmett has a severe form of the disorder and suffered up to 200 seizures a day.

American Epilepsy Outreach Foundation (AEOF) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in Chicago and established in honor of Emmett, a four-year-old boy living with Epilepsy. Their mission is to raise public awareness through advocacy and education and provide support for those living with Epilepsy. Visit
