Noted Litigator Peter Diedrich Joins Musick Peeler & Garrett LLP
Date:1/29/2008

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Noted litigator Peter J. Diedrich joins the California law firm Musick Peeler & Garrett LLP in their downtown Los Angeles office as of the first of the year.

As a partner at Musick Peeler, Diedrich is involved in multiple areas of litigation, with emphasis on health care, real property litigation and labor and employment cases. His clients include two of the largest health plans in California as well as real estate developers.

Previously a shareholder in the firm Beck, De Corso, Daly & Kreindler, Diedrich was widely recognized for his work in complex civil litigation. He has been involved in a varied range of issues including those arising from health care industry, real estate, director and officer liability, breach of contract, unfair competition and intellectual property. He was named Southern California Super Lawyer each year from 2005 - 2008.

Diedrich's practice areas have previously included large-scale construction and government contracts matters, internal investigations in a variety of areas including alleged billing fraud by defense contractors, and securities matters.

Cases of note include several in the health care industry. Diedrich was responsible for the investigation and prosecution of a number of cases on behalf of a large heath plan in Orange County Superior Court, against approximately 37 physicians and outpatient surgery centers that were making illegal payments to patients for unnecessary surgical procedures. The scheme was profiled on ABC's Prime Time news program. He successfully defended another health plan against regional hospitals for claims of unfair competition and improper reimbursement.

In a complex civil RICO action on behalf of an agency of the Russian government, Diedrich sought to locate and recover $170 million in gold, diamonds and other valuables sent from Russia to San Francisco and then misappropriated. The action ultimately recovered $100 million.
