Only Company to Top Its Industry Every Year It Has Ranked on the FORTUNE
Survey
MILWAUKEE, March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Bring out the silver platter: Northwestern Mutual has done it again. In its 2008 annual survey, FORTUNE magazine ranked the company as "America's Most Admired" in the life/health insurance industry for a landmark 25th year. Northwestern Mutual is the only company to have led its industry every year it has been included in the prestigious survey of industry professionals and analysts.
"To land on top for a quarter century is quite an honor," says Edward J. Zore, President and Chief Executive Officer of Northwestern Mutual. "This is a tremendous accomplishment when you consider that no other company in any industry has been named 'America's Most Admired' for 25 out of 25 years. We are enormously proud to be recognized by our peers and industry experts in this way. It's a powerful testimonial to the job we're doing -- providing financial security to our clients."
All "America's Most Admired" industry rankings are featured in FORTUNE magazine's March 17 edition, available on newsstands March 10.
Northwestern Mutual received an overall score of 7.36, which is derived from eight key attributes used to calculate a company's overall 'corporate reputation' score. The company was voted first in the key attributes of: quality of management, quality of products and services, long-term investment, financial soundness, employee talent, social responsibility, and use of corporate assets.
The remaining top five "Most Admired" companies ranked in the life/health insurance category include New York Life, Massachusetts Mutual Life, Principal Financial and Prudential Financial. Northwestern Mutual joins Johnson Controls as the only two Wisconsin-based companies in FORTUNE'S survey to top their respective industries.
