"Achieving this recognition confirms and validates the ongoing positive changes in our hospital's culture," said Thomas C. Mroczkowski, President and CEO. "Each employee colleague at all levels of the organization is engaged and focused on quality patient care, on creating an environment where everyone can do their best work. From an on-site day care center, to support for adoptive parents, to generous maternity and paternity leaves, flexible work schedules, helpful services such as dry cleaning and take-home meals, and even a baby shower for our employee colleagues and their newborns, Northern Michigan Regional Health System is proud to be an 'employer of choice' in Michigan. Each and every day our staff is living our mission of caring for patients as they would for their own families. I am honored to accept the 2007 Working Mother 100 Best Companies recognition on their behalf."
Methodology:
Northern Michigan Regional Health System was selected for 2007 Working Mother 100 Best Companies recognition based on an extensive application of 575 questions. The application included detailed questions about workforce, compensation, child care and flexibility programs, leave policies, and more. It also checked the usage, availability, and tracking of programs, as well as the accountability of managers who oversee them. Seven areas were measured and scored: workforce profile, compensation, child care, flexibility, time off and leaves, family-friendly programs, and company culture. For this year's 100 Best, particular weight was given to flexibility and family- friendly policies.
