North Dakota Critical Access Hospital Quality Network Moves Forward with Statewide Information Management Project to Enhance Patient Safety in the State

North Dakota Critical Access Hospital Quality Network Statewide Information Management Project

Chicago (PRWEB) June 11, 2009 -- The Critical Access Hospital (CAH) Quality Network of the North Dakota Center for Rural Health and Clarity Group, a leading provider of healthcare risk, quality and patient safety software and consulting services have joined forces to carry on a statewide effort to enhance patient safety across the state through shared data obtained as a result of their information management strategy. "The Quality Network set out in Fall 2008 to test the possibility of working together across the state to collect information that could have a positive impact on patient safety in the small and rural healthcare setting," said Jody Ward, ND CAH Quality Network Coordinator. "The Pilot Project lasted 6 months after which the group determined that the strategy was working and that this was an appropriate project for the Quality Network to continue."

"We have seen data shared across the state for 12 CAHs that participated in the Pilot and have recognized added benefit from ease of data collection and the ability to use the data internally to create positive change. We look forward to continuing with the project and expanding to other CAHs in North Dakota," stated Coleen Bomber of Northwood Deaconess Health Center. The information strategy has been supported by Clarity's Healthcare SafetyZone® Portal, a web-based software application that has made access to the system easy with very little in-house IT support necessary. In addition, the ease of use by CAH staff and the ability to work with the individual CAHs in creating data analysis templates has been very well accepted by all participants.
