North Carolina Plastic Surgeon Embracing Social Media to Connect with Patients and Reach Out to Community

Along with his state-of-the-art website, Dr. Richard Cummings now uses Facebook and social media to interact with patients and share information about his North Carolina plastic surgery practice and the procedures that he offers.

Kinston, N.C. (Vocus) November 24, 2009 -- North Carolina plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Cummings has joined the popular social networking site Facebook to expand his reach and keep an ongoing dialogue with current and prospective patients. With over 300 million users, Facebook has become one of the most popular social networking sites in the world and enables users to share videos, pictures, and dialogue like never before.

By creating a Facebook page for his practice, Dr. Cummings hopes to make it easier for individuals to access before-and-after photos, connect with others who have already undergone treatment, and learn about the procedures that are available at Cummings Plastic Surgery. Dr. Cummings plans to use social media to reach out to people throughout North Carolina and the rest of the country who are interested in breast enhancement or body contouring.

After only a few weeks, Cummings Plastic Surgery has over 135 fans on Facebook, and several of Dr. Cummings’ patients have already posted video testimonials or left comments thanking him for their results.

Facebook also enables Dr. Cummings to communicate practice updates and procedure information with his patients in a format that they are familiar with and enjoy. In a recent post, Dr. Cummings shared a news article that discussed the FDA’s approval of cohesive gel (“gummy bear”) implants for breast augmentation procedures in the United States. Cohesive gel implants have been used in Europe and elsewhere around the world for decades and have been shown to provide more natural-looking results than traditional saline implants. However, some patients are still concerned with their safety and reliability. Dr. Cummings has been placing breast implants in North Carolina for more than twenty years and has successfully performed thousands of breast augmentation procedures in his career. Even though he is convinced of their safety, he wants patients to feel confident with their breast implants options. By posting the news article, Dr. Cummings’ existing patients shared their experience with the MemoryGel Silicone Gel breast implants giving prospective breast augmentation patients assurance that they can be confident and enthusiastic about "gummy bear" implants.

In addition to breast augmentation, Dr. Cummings also offers breast lift surgery and liposuction at his plastic surgery practice in Kinston, near Raleigh and Wilmington. During a pre-operative consultation, Dr. Cummings uses computer imaging technology to give patients an idea of the results that they can expect from treatment based on their individual needs and goals. He says he also utilizes advanced techniques to minimize the appearance of incisions and to ensure that the recovery period is as smooth as possible.

Dr. Cummings says his Facebook page acts as a nice compliment to his website, and is a useful method of connecting with the community. “We are going to our patients rather than making our patients come to us.”
