WOBURN, Mass., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Culbert Healthcare Solutions, a fast-growing health information technology and operations professional services firm, announced today that Norm Botsford has joined the company as Principal Consultant in the Strategic Services practice.
Mr. Botsford recently served as President and Chief Executive Officer at University Physicians Healthcare (UPH), the health system and academic medical practice of the University of Arizona College of Medicine faculty. The practice consisted of approximately 375 full-time academic physicians, 14 clinical departments, 22 clinic facilities, and a freestanding ambulatory surgery center. The corporation operated a fully accredited 197-bed acute care hospital, a Medicaid risk contract providing managed care services to 48,000 members, and a small-business health plan covering 8,000 members. UPH employed a staff of 2,100, comprised of physicians and staff working in a range of settings, including clinics, hospital, central billing office, health plan, corporate, and practice administration.
During his 15-year tenure, Mr. Botsford led UPH through significant change, and was responsible for strategic planning, organizational development, and practice operations, as well as oversight of physician compensation, Medicaid managed care plans, and the risk management/malpractice insurance corporation. Mr. Botsford also led UPH's acquisition of a county-owned community hospital (formerly Kino Community Hospital, now University Physicians Hospital) which resulted in an innovative partnership between UPH, the University, and county government. Under his leadership, the hospital began to reestablish itself as a full-service hospital and outpatient treatment center.
As a member of the CHS Strategic Services practice, Mr. Botsford will
advise the senior leaders of academic medical centers on growth and new
