Nordic Naturals Becomes the Official Omega-3 of the American Pregnancy Association
Date:2/11/2009

WATSONVILLE, Calif., Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- With a strong corporate commitment to education and research, Nordic Naturals announced today its partnership with the American Pregnancy Association, which includes their endorsement of Nordic Naturals as the "the official omega-3" of their organization. Also known as APA, the American Pregnancy Association is the leading non-profit in the United States that is committed to promoting reproductive and pregnancy wellness through education, research, advocacy and community awareness. For information, see www.americanpregnancy.org.

According to Joar Opheim, CEO of Nordic Naturals, "We are convinced that our collaborative undertaking with APA will bring about increased education for women on the special role that omega fatty acids play in a new mother's health along with the health of her baby. Current studies consistently show that women of childbirth age in this country and Canada consume far too little of these essential nutrients in their diet."

Scientific research confirms the importance of essential fatty acids for prenatal, maternal and neonatal health. DHA comprises about 30% of the fatty tissue in the brain and is essential for proper development of the brain, eyes, nerves and immune system. International nutrition organizations have concluded that pregnant and nursing women need a minimum of 300 mg DHA each day to ensure healthy development of the child within, as well as to support mom's physical and mental health pre and post-delivery. To review this research and more, see www.omega-research.com.

"Knowing the high quality of the Nordic Naturals brand and the verification of efficacy through research, we welcome this omega leader to our organization for the purpose of expanding our nutritional education for the betterment of pregnant w
