New to DrugRisk: December Court Records Show Rise in NuvaRing Lawsuits
Date:12/20/2013

Kansas City, MO (PRWEB) December 20, 2013

The birth control safety center DrugRisk.com is announcing updated information for women using the contraceptive NuvaRing. Court records for December show the number of lawsuits alleging the device caused blood clot-related injuries has risen*.

DrugRisk is a free resource for those taking popular prescription drugs. By sharing the latest product recalls, safety alerts, research and litigation news, patients can avoid dangerous drugs, see if others are experiencing similar side effects and decide if they need legal advice.

The resource center contains health warnings that link contraceptives like NuvaRing to higher risks of blood clots than traditional birth control pills. Last year, the New England Journal of Medicine published a study finding vaginal ring contraceptives may result in a 6.5 times increased risk of blood clots**.

Due to the number of women who’ve filed a NuvaRing lawsuit alleging blood clots, cases have been consolidated in a special federal multidistrict litigation court. The formal case is In re: NuvaRing Products Liability Litigation, No. 08-md-1964, JPML, Eastern District Missouri.

Now, DrugRisk has learned the latest court records from December show the number of cases filed has grown 3% in a month, from 1,563 on November 18th to 1,610 as of December 16*. U.S. District Judge Rodney Sippel has scheduled the first trial for April 7, 2014***.

Anyone who suffered a blood clot, stroke, DVT or pulmonary embolism after using NuvaRing is urged to contact the DrugRisk or speak with a lawyer about their legal rights as soon as possible. However, DrugRisk only recommends lawyers and law firms who have already handled NuvaRing lawsuits.
