Researchers at Penn State University conducted a study on 131 college-aged females who felt that there was a correlation between their eating patterns and their mood. What they found is that if the women were in a good mood prior to eating unhealthy food, their moods were relatively unaffected by what they ate. As this is one of the first studies that have been conducted in the field versus in a laboratory setting, it holds a promise of highlighting true eating responses by people in real-life situations. And, it suggests that if people can hold off from essentially feeding their bad moods, they may feel better more quickly.
