New SoZo Raises the Bar on Functional Beverages
Date:11/17/2009

IRVING, Texas, Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Though it's made from the whole coffee fruit, the newest functional beverage from SoZo Global, LLC isn't coffee. It's a unique drink jammed with antioxidants and nutrients that offer a way to live a healthier life--and it tastes good.

A 3-oz. serving of the beverage contains over 10,000 ORAC units, the antioxidant equivalent of approximately 20 servings of fruits and vegetables.

"SoZo contains a cornucopia of nutrition that has raised the bar in functional beverages," said Larry Cantrell, chairman and CEO. "In terms of antioxidant power, CoffeeBerry® is what fresh blueberries would like to be. There's just nothing else like it in the marketplace."

CoffeeBerry - the whole coffee fruit - is the proprietary ingredient in SoZo that sets it apart from all other nutritional drinks. Long considered a throw-away by-product in the coffee industry, the nutrient-laden, protective coffee fruit surrounds the coffee bean, similar to the meaty cherry around the cherry pit. For centuries, coffee fruit was discarded while the bean was kept and roasted. The coffee fruit broke down and became rancid within a day of harvesting.

Researchers eventually learned to stabilize the fruit so that it could be processed, naming the pure-form extract CoffeeBerry. They also learned that CoffeeBerry can promote healthy cardiovascular function and help maintain proper glucose metabolism. It also supports healthier aging and can help neutralize damaging free radicals in the body.

SoZo Global, LLC, which holds an exclusive license agreement to market CoffeeBerry, added to it a number of proprietary fruit and vegetable extract blends to create SoZo, a delicious functional beverage that is all natural and contains no preservatives, sugar, artificial flavors or colors.

"SoZo is a nature's basket of fruits and vegetables," explained John M. Hunter, general manager at Futureceuticals and one of the developers of CoffeeBerry. "It's not just a single antioxidant chemical that will give you an unnatural spike in antioxidants. CoffeeBerry, in combination with other fruit and vegetable powders and extracts, delivers powerful support for diets that may be lacking sufficient fruit and vegetable antioxidants."

Prior to SoZo's official November launch, nearly 3,000 people had signed up as independent distributors with rights to retail the product. SoZo is packaged in 25-oz. bottles. Distributorship and product information is available from SoZo Global, LLC, www.sozolife.com.
