Date:6/4/2010

Kaplan Continuing Education launches two new online courses "Hazardous Material (Hazmat)", and "Fire Officer: Principles and Practice" for firefighters.

Ft. Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) June 4, 2010 -- Kaplan Continuing Education today announced the launch of new online fire training courses—Hazardous Material and Fire Officer: Principles and Practice for fire professionals.

The Fire Officer: Principles and Practice course includes topics such as the IAFC/IAFF Firefighter Safety and Deployment Study, death and injury issues, as well as changes in fire ground accountability and rapid intervention practices. Additional course highlights include topics such as crew resources management, the impact of blogs, video sharing and social networks, and changes in the National Response Framework and National Incident Management System. The other new course, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations (Hazmat) satisfies NFPA’s job performance requirements for first responders and provides training that exceeds EPA and OSHA requirements for all fire fighters. This course also includes (but not limited to) topics such as the properties and effects of hazardous materials, calculating potential danger and initiating a response plan, victim rescue and recovery and air monitoring and sampling.

Features and benefits of using Kaplan’s Fire and EMS Level Training courses include:
- A simple, user-friendly interface to ensure that students do not waste time learning how to navigate through material.
- A safe and self-paced training environment that allows students to learn at their own pace
- Full narration that may be disabled at any time
- Course material that may be accessed virtually anywhere and at anytime, providing total flexibility
