New Online Company Is Helping to Bring a Solution to the Increasingly Devastating Problem of Healthcare Costs in America, at No Cost to Consumers
Date:6/23/2009

TROY, Mich., June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- According to a recent Consumer Reports study, 28% of Americans have skipped doses, cut pills in half, failed to fill a prescription or shared a prescription in order to cut costs. As more and more Americans are struggling to cope with the rising cost of healthcare, a new online company is providing a method of saving on their prescription drug costs, at no cost to consumers.

Medtipster (www.medtipster.com) is a new search engine with a national database of generic drugs on discount programs. By typing in their drug, dosage and zip code on medtipster.com, consumers can search for pharmacies that carry the generic equivalent of their medication at a discount, often for $4 or less.

If the visitor's medication is available at a discount, Medtipster will show them a list of pharmacies with pricing, starting with those closest to them. If not, they will immediately be given the option to be notified via email when the drug is added to a list, or to search for a therapeutic alternative for the medication. Visitors can also find information on where consumers can find mini clinics, and receive immunizations and flu shots locally.

"We created Medtipster to provide American consumers with a single, easy-to-use resource to find the most accurate and competitive prescription drug pricing information from pharmacies offering discount generic drug programs across the country," said Bruce Liebowitz, Chief Operating Officer for Medtipster. "Our goal is to provide comprehensive information to everyone - from the growing population of uninsured and underserved to the insured yet cost-conscious consumer - and to help them access their required medications while saving hundreds of dollars every month. We believe Medtipster will quickly become an essential component of an overall solution to rising healthcare costs."
