The media spotlight is often a double-edged sword. No one knows this better than Amanda Couture and people who filed an Accutane Lawsuit. And yet, gossip and rumor-mongering aside, the real story here is being overlooked according to Sean Burke of AttorneyOne.
According to court documents, on May 23rd, 2012, California resident Amanda Couture filed a lawsuit in California Northern District Court (case no. 3:2012cv02657) alleging she suffered serious injuries after taking “Amnesteem”, a generic version of the brand-name drug Accutane. Accutane (isotretinoin), a popular acne medication introduced in 1982, is manufactured by Hoffman-LaRoche, Inc. Couture alleges she experienced side effects, including but not limited to Accutane Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, rectal bleeding and edema of the colon after taking “Amnesteem”, a generic form of Accutane. Defendants are Hoffman-LaRoche and generic manufacturer, Mylan Pharmaceuticals.
In 2009, as the number of lawsuits against the company kept increasing Accutane was pulled from the US market. Generic Accutane drugs are still available in the market. In a 2008 trial, Kamie S. Kendall, who accused Accutane for her ulcerative colitis, was awarded over $10.5 million by a jury (case no A-73-2010–066802).
AttorneyOne.com, a recognized authority on law, can provide helpful advice and simple solutions including how to get in contact with legal counsel so that, in case of severe adverse events from Accutane, someone can easily and inexpensively deal with it. As Mr. Burke, director of Media Relations for AttorneyOne.com, added, “What all this information really illustrates is that threat from Accutane remains. For that reason, our focus should squarely fall on getting the word out and assisting people in finding the right legal assistance.”
As Bloomberg reported on June 30th, 2012, a New Jersey jury ruled that Hoffman-LaRoche must pay $18 million in damages to two former Accutane users, Kathleen Rossitto and Riley Wilkinson (case no. ATL-l-7481-10-MT).
AttorneyOne.com has further information on Accutane lawsuits including how to get in contact with legal counsel.
