New Implant Procedure Offered by St. Joseph, MO Dentist Dr. Steven Propst Provides Permanent, Healthy Smiles

Those who have missing teeth as a result of decay, wearing or accidents are faced with much more than aesthetic problems. Although removable dentures or partial dentures can temporarily solve aesthetic and functional issues, these patients are still left with the inconvenience of jaw pain, poor digestion, and risk of bacteria build-up on their oral devices. Dr. Steven Propst recently introduced a new implant procedure that is helping his patients get permanent, healthy smiles despite missing, decayed or worn teeth.

Dental implants are artificial roots and teeth that look completely natural, but perform better than a natural tooth. Made of a titanium stud and porcelain tooth, implants are extremely durable, long lasting, and aren’t susceptible to decay. They are a completely permanent solution for missing teeth that allows patients to live a more carefree life without the worry of broken or loose dentures.

“These dental implants have really changed the way many of our dental patients go about their daily lives,” said Dr. Steven Propst. “With this permanent solution, they don’t have to worry about bonding agents or cleaning their oral devices. They also don’t have to eliminate certain foods from their diet just because their dentures aren’t strong enough for them. We’ve found that our patients are much happier, healthier, and more confident with dental implants versus traditional dentures.”

The dental implant procedure is completed over the period of several months, but the products are designed to last a lifetime. First, Dr. Propst takes X-rays and impressions of the patient’s mouth to determine the needs and specifications for the dental implants. A titanium stud is then surgically inserted into the patient’s jawbone and is given several months to heal and essentially fuse to the
